We Made It!!!

We finally made it to the Keys!  While we were staying in Pompano Beach we took a day trip to the Keys.  The first thing I need to tell you is --- you cannot do the Keys in one day!  We ran into traffic around the Fort Lauderdale and Miami areas so we didn't make it as early as I would have liked so we got to Key Largo around 11ish.

It's hard to tell where the water stops and the sky starts.

The water is so clear and beautiful. Every shade of blue you could imagine.

We spent most of the afternoon swimming and relaxing on Sombrero Beach.  There were quite a few people and it kept getting busier as the afternoon went on.  I can only imagine how it would have been if this was the busy season.  But we weren't hard to find at all, we were the pasty white Minnesotans. 😁 Remember I said I was getting good at the selfies.....

Yea, I lied! So this is the only pic I have of dad and I on the beach in the Keys.

We stopped at a restaurant, I was hoping to get fresh seafood but it was more of an Italian restaurant and they didn't really have what I wanted so I ended up getting spaghetti.  Dad said he was going to have everyone give me crap because I ordered spaghetti.

I did have a slice of Key Lime pie though.

Now here is where it goes south.....always, always, always go with your gut, your first intuition, your heart.  The one thing that I wanted to do the most was to watch the sun set.  It was starting to get dark and I should have pulled over but I thought we could make it to a different spot to catch the sun...but we didn't.  We finally drove down a residential street and caught a little glimpse of it but we missed the best of it.  If only I had stopped when I should have.  Life lesson I guess.  So these pictures of the sun set are crappy but it's all I have.

I wish I had more pics to show you but I drove and dad was too busy looking around.  We will definitely go back but next time we will take the camping gear and stay at one of the state parks for a couple days so we can take our time and enjoy the island life.

Love and miss you all!
