The Alamo, not what I expected

Darien, Jon and the boys made it to Texas although we did get to do a few things everything was cut short.  But at least we got to spend time with them and the boys and that is what matters.

We went to the Alamo.  I am just going to say it....I wasn't real impressed with the Alamo.  The history of what happened there is unbelievable but I think I made it out to be more in my head.  I thought there would be a museum with period pieces to view.  They were working on restoring some areas so some of it was closed to the public.  But I did love the gardens and grounds.  Your not allowed to take pictures inside so that is all I have is outside pics.

This is his cheese smile.

Just down the block from the Alamo is the River Walk.  There is a mall, shops and restaurants.  We grabbed a bite to eat and walked.  The boys wanted to go swimming.

Some of my pics are a little blurry but it was really bright out and honestly I couldn't see if I was even taking the pics.

Since everything is closed now there wasn't a whole lot to do so we spent one day at our campground hanging out, grilling and having smores.  We let the boys throw rocks down by the river but of course they went in and got wetter than they should have.

Yesterday we went to Corpus Christi to the gulf.  It was soooo windy.  The water was pretty warm although both boys didn't want to go in.

We made sure the boys were thoroughly covered in sun screen but all four of us adults got burned.  I didn't even think we were there that long.

Becky, if your reading this, you will be happy to know (even though this is the only beach we have been to in Texas) we enjoyed the beaches in Florida way more.

I hope that everyone is staying safe there.  We are here until the end of March.  I spoke with the park and if we need to stay we can stay here.  I am not sure what we are going to do, I guess we'll just have to see how this plays out.  Our plan was to head to Carlsbad, New Mexico and go to Guadalupe National Park and Carlsbad Cavern, then on to Utah.  But with everything closing we're not sure if we will have a place to camp or be able to get into the national parks once we get there.  If the shit really hits the fan then we will be coming home (if we can).  We would rather be home with family and friends.

Love and miss you all.
