5 Things I learned and regrets.

Our time in Florida is coming to an end and we have to leave tomorrow.  I have thoroughly enjoyed our time here and we will definitely be back.  5 things I learned about Florida 1.    It's weird but in a lot of ways Florida reminds me of Minnesota.  The weather here is pretty much like summer in MN only they have it all year long. If you look out our camper windows it would be hard to tell if were in MN or FL.  We found the food and gas prices to be about the same as home so there was no sticker shock there.  Except for the palm trees or if your sitting on the beach there are a lot of similarities.  The one reason I would hate to live here permanently is they have to mow all year long and that would get real old.    2.    Although the gators are everywhere in Florida they are no where!  I am sure it's the time of year and they are hibernating/dormant or whatever they do.  I wouldn't have wanted to run into one while we were swimming but it would have been

Jekyll Island - Georgia and....Darien

Since we had the rental car for a week, after we got home from Pompano Beach we took a day trip to Jekyll Island, Georgia.  The island has several beaches but I had my eyes set on Driftwood Beach.  This is my favorite beach we have been to so far (not for swimming but for walking and taking it all in.) But I guess you will figure that out by all the pictures I took and this is only part of them. We spent hours walking among the trees.  Dad found a few shells.  This one is my favorite of all the shells we have found so far.  It's not the biggest one we've found but I love the colors.  It's hard to see in the pics but it's a pretty gray/blue with orange in it. I really wanted to bring some drift wood home but it's illegal to take it and if you think about it if everybody did that then this beach wouldn't be as awesome as it is.

We Made It!!!

We finally made it to the Keys!  While we were staying in Pompano Beach we took a day trip to the Keys.  The first thing I need to tell you is --- you cannot do the Keys in one day!  We ran into traffic around the Fort Lauderdale and Miami areas so we didn't make it as early as I would have liked so we got to Key Largo around 11ish.  It's hard to tell where the water stops and the sky starts. The water is so clear and beautiful. Every shade of blue you could imagine.   We spent most of the afternoon swimming and relaxing on Sombrero Beach.  There were quite a few people and it kept getting busier as the afternoon went on.  I can only imagine how it would have been if this was the busy season.  But we weren't hard to find at all, we were the pasty white Minnesotans. 😁 Remember I said I was getting good at the selfies..... Yea, I lied! So this is the only pic I have of dad and I on the beach in the Keys. We stopped at
